We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our team at DTU Wind in the field of wind farm control optimization. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project that focuses on developing and testing new AI-driven algorithms for wind farm control, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
The PhD student will be part of the IntelliWind Doctoral Network, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action Doctoral Network that brings together researchers and engineers from academia and industry to advance the field of wind energy and AI. The network provides a unique opportunity for the PhD student to collaborate with leading experts in the field, participate in scientific discussions, and benefit from advanced training in various European universities and industry.
The PhD project will involve developing and testing new AI-driven algorithms for wind farm control, including impact assessment to estimate the potential benefits of the AI-driven strategies compared to physics-based approaches. The PhD student will also be responsible for assessing the risk and uncertainties through uncertainty assessment involving, for example, ensemble modeling.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in engineering or computer science, with a keen interest in scientific programming and machine learning. Experience with wind energy topics and data science/analytics is highly desirable. The PhD student will be expected to work efficiently in a project team and take responsibility for their own research goals.
The PhD scholarship is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations, and the allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 3 years, starting on 1 December 2024 (or according to mutual agreement). The position is a full-time position, and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and international environment at DTU.
