Wind Farm Control Optimization PhD Scholar Position in Reinforcement Learning at DTU Wind

DTU Wind invites applications for a PhD position as a researcher in wind farm control optimization with reinforcement learning techniques. This position is part of the IntelliWind Marie-Curie network, focusing on the design and impact assessment of autonomous actions investigated in IntelliWind.
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic new team member committed to addressing climate change by advancing renewable energy systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in engineering or computer science, with a keen interest in scientific programming and machine learning. Experience with data science/analytics and machine learning methods is highly desirable. The candidate should also have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree.
- Achieve accuracy, reliability, and robustness in AI-driven algorithms for wind farm control.
- Conduct impact assessment to estimate the potential benefits of AI-driven wind farm control strategies compared to physics-based approaches.
- Assess risk and uncertainties through uncertainty assessment involving, for example, ensemble modeling.
The present project will take advantage of collaboration with researchers and engineers at DTU and at external partners in academia as well as the industry. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills that are transferable to a broader landscape of opportunities, including advanced training in various European universities and industry, and participation in scientific discussions within the IntelliWind network.
