Job Description

The University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly qualified professor to join its Department of Veterinary and Animal Sciences. The successful candidate will have a strong background in applied ethology and animal welfare, with a focus on terrestrial animals in human care.

The prime role for this professorship is to study the impact of various forms of animal use on animal welfare. The successful candidate will be expected to cover different species and forms of animal use, and to develop and use methods to assess animal welfare at farm and group level.

The field of Animal Welfare Science has undergone significant developments in recent decades, with a growing focus on methods to study positive animal welfare. The successful candidate will be expected to have documented skills in this area, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues from other relevant disciplines.

The professor's responsibilities will primarily consist of research, research-based teaching, research leadership, and obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society. The successful candidate will be expected to have a good track record of stakeholder interaction and to be able to manage research and other management functions.

The University of Copenhagen is a leading research university, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the university's research and teaching activities. The position is a permanent position, and the average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
