Job Description

The University of Copenhagen is seeking an Associate Professor of Companion Animal Surgery to join the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences. This is a permanent position that requires a high level of original scientific work at an international level in companion animal surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and publish academic papers in the field of companion animal surgery.
  • Teach and examine undergraduate students in veterinary clinical sciences.
  • Develop and lead independent research projects and clinical studies in companion animal surgery.
  • Participate in the University Hospital for Companion Animals service, including soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery.
  • Supervise and assist colleagues and referring veterinarians in companion animal surgery.
  • Initiate and lead funding applications for research projects.
Requirements
  • Research qualifications at the level of an assistant professor or postdoc.
  • Diplomate status from the European or American Colleges of Veterinary Surgery or other postgraduate education in specialized companion animal surgery.
  • Teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies.
  • Research-based teaching.
  • A DVM with a license to practice in Denmark or willingness to apply for such within 6 months.
  • A strong track record of international publications.
  • Clinical experience with surgery from specialized companion animal practice or university veterinary teaching hospital setting.
