About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned Data Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team and drive the development of our data platform. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding our data engineers to build robust, scalable systems that can handle big data.

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will foster a collaborative environment where engineers can grow and thrive. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to align data engineering with business direction and goals, and ensure that our data platform is optimized for scalability, reliability, availability, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly manage 8-12 data engineers and provide guidance on technical decisions.
  • Coach the team in working collaboratively with other engineers and data experts to grow platform adoption.
  • Drive a user-centric and solution-oriented mindset within the team.
  • Continuously improve the environment and processes to support data platform growth, maturity, and compliance with best practices.
  • Create and steer the data platform strategy with the team in alignment with wider business, product, tech, and data strategies.
  • Represent Data Engineering in key initiatives and projects within the department or across the company and ensure they get delivered.
  • Design the organization, objectives, and hold a high standard in people, delivery, and technology.
Requirements
  • Passion for people management and a track record of mentoring and guiding teams.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in data engineering, with a focus on scalability, reliability, availability, security, and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with data platforms, data engineering, and data analytics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and strategically.
