The Department of Food and Resource Economics invites highly motivated and qualified candidates for a Postdoc position in Urban Frontiers. This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a groundbreaking project exploring land access, coding, and control in urban peripheries.

As part of the research project directed by Professor Christian Lund, you will be working within the Global Development Section in the Department for Food and Resource Economics at the University of Copenhagen. The project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC), and three 3-year Postdoc positions are available.

Job Description
  • Conduct extended case studies of concrete social struggles in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, focusing on how land is accessed, coded, and controlled in urban peripheries.
  • Propose a country and an urban research site, describing how the research priorities of the programme will be relevantly addressed in the project.
  • Develop and implement qualitative research methods, with significant fieldwork expected.
  • Collaborate with the team to achieve the project's objectives.
Requirements
  • PhD degree within anthropology, development studies, economics, geography, political science, sociology, or a related field.
  • Relevant work experience with qualitative research methods.
  • Familiarity with quantitative research methods.
  • Strong interest in dynamics of social change.
  • Knowledge of the proposed country and language capabilities.
