We are searching for creative and innovative minds who want to conduct cutting-edge research and push the boundaries of HCI in one or multiple of the following areas: digital fabrication bio-sensors and health-related interfaces sensing techniques printed electronics wearables smart fibers sustainable fabrication other related topics

The successful candidate must have

a PhD Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related area. strong technical competencies in at least one of the following fields: HCI, embedded systems, electrical/mechanical engineering, computer graphics/vision, machine learning, or other related skills that are useful for fabricating new types of physical objects and interfaces excellent programming skills

At the, we conduct research on Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI) with a focus on innovating in fabrication technologies and materials to enable the broader society creating personalized interactive tools and devices. In our everyday live, we use numerous objects to interact with other people and digital data including mobile phones, smart home devices, or simply a TV's remote control. These interactions have a high impact on how we live our live, how we gather information, and how we interact with others. Our research aims to innovate in the personalized fabrication of such interactive objects enabling personalized medical devices, novel printing hardware, interactive materials, and computational algorithms that go beyond the capabilties of technology that exists today.

About Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University:

The Department of Computer Science is located in a developing campus area called IT-City Katrinebjerg, where many institutions and companies working with information technology are located. The Department has a staff of approximately 175 people including 18 full professors (some on part time) and 18 associate professors, 7 tenure track assistant professors, 30 postdocs and 70 PhD students, as well as 20 Tech and Admin Staff members. The student population is approximately 800. The Department’s ranking on in the set of topics covered by the mentioned research groups is in top 30 in the World and top 5 in Europe.

The department is strong in both theoretical and applied computer science. We pride ourselves on close cooperation between different research groups, even those which have traditionally been perceived as being far from each other. Many of the department's research targets themes and application areas that are interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary in nature.

Application procedure

Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns him/her self. Once the recruitment process is completed a final letter of rejection is sent to the deselected applicants.
