About the job
The Project Manager will be responsible for project management and project closure of a large Early Childhood Care and Education project in Uganda and further development and management of our ECD and humanitarian/nexus portfolio and profile. We are looking for someone with a technical background and expertise in this area to further develop, strengthen and implement our ECD portfolio.

PlanBørnefonden has a dual mandate across the development and humanitarian nexus, and we are strengthening our capacity and increasing our portfolio in the humanitarian area. We are therefore looking for someone to support with humanitarian resource mobilization, project management and reporting.

Key tasks of the position include
Project Management:

  • Provide overall leadership and project management including representation towards the donor and Community of Practice.
  • Ensure the programme is on track to meet its work plans and budges, working closely with Project Director in Country office as well as broader project staff
  • Work with the assigned Grants Controllers to ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting in relation to budget.
  • Coordinate with assigned MERL, Advocacy, and Technical colleagues to ensure resources are brought in at the right time and ensure timely delivery of activities and tasks.
  • Ensure project closure and lead and coordinate high-quality final narrative and financial reporting to the donor, working closely with Grants, MERL, and Advocacy staff.
  • Share learning from the programme across PlanBørnefonden, as well as the broader Plan International federation and externally.

Technical Profile: ECD and Humanitarian, Nexus:

  • In collaboration with national and global colleagues, ensure that PlanBørnfonden's and Plan's ECD vision and work is further developed and operationalized with a focus on identifying most critical technical areas aligned with global, national, and funding priorities. This also includes seeking cross-sectoral collaboration and providing technical guidance in house and to country- offices on ECD, including ECD and early learning in Emergencies, ECD and climate, Parenting, Food Security and Nutrition, and Maternal-, Newborn-, Child- Health.
  • Provide support on Plan International's parenting programme across the Plan Federation.
  • In collaboration with the Humanitarian Programme Manager, develop, manage and provide technical assistance to our DRM portfolio, including across the development and humanitarian nexus.

Experience

  • 4+ years relevant professional experience managing and coordinating ECD and humanitarian projects.
  • A relevant Masters' Degree such as International Development, ECD, health, humanitarian,
  • Experience from working and living in a humanitarian and development setting
  • Experience in working with gender transformative approaches
  • Experience in providing technical support in ECD and humanitarian in a global organisation
  • Experience with logical framework approach (LFA) frameworks, needs assessments, proposal writing, budgeting, and reporting skills
  • Ability to travel for work related activities
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of French strongly preferable.

Conditions of employment
Starting date is 1st of November 2024. The position is for 1 year, with the possibility of extension.

Expected travel: Approximately 40 days a year

Location: Copenhagen, Denmark. It is required that you hold a working permit.
