CO2 is a global problem. By fermenting it into carbon negative chemicals, we make it the solution.

We have figured out how to take the carbon outputs from industrial emitters, and use them as the inputs for chemical manufacturing. We’re not simply storing carbon away - we are turning it into valuable, emission-free green-chemicals.

If that doesn’t bubble your bioreactor, how about this: For every tonne of products we make, over 2 tonnes of carbon are removed from the atmosphere.

What you’ll do
We're seeking an experienced Head of R&D to lead our innovative bioprocess development. You'll lead all strain development activities, optimizing existing products and developing new ones through advanced biological and chemical processes, and overseeing technology transfer between teams and with external partners. This role combines cutting-edge experiment design, data interpretation, cross-team collaboration and strategic communication with senior stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Lead innovation efforts across multidisciplinary teams, optimizing existing products and developing new ones via biological and chemical processes
  • Lead all strain development and computational team activities (4 direct reports from FTEs), translating overall strategy into objectives and tasks
  • Collaborate with management to define strategic objectives and manage key priority projects
  • Apply project management expertise to strain development initiatives
  • Work closely with scientific teams to drive research and development goals
  • Manage external research partnerships

Job requirements
About you:

  • You have at least 5 + years of hands-on industrial R&D experience in strain development
  • Relevant education (PhD or MSc) in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or a related field
  • Proven ability in interpreting scientific data and solid understanding of statistics
  • An effective communicator skilled in translating scientific data into actionable decisions and seamlessly engaging with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Most importantly, you are a creative problem solver, always full of new ideas, hate taking “no” for an answer, prefer to challenge the status quo and never postpone until tomorrow what can be done today
