Department Description
As Business- und Product Development Manager you will be part of the Corporate Strategy and Business- and Product Development Team which is one of the teams of the Strategy and Corporate Development (SCD) unit. The unit:

  • supports the company in continuously reviewing, formulating, updating and implementing its corporate strategy,
  • supports the Management Board in assessing and grasping strategic opportunities, e.g. M&A activities, strategic cooperations or geographical expansions,
  • takes the lead in world-wide, cross-functional projects and initiatives which have a direct impact on P&L and balance sheet,
  • drives the management and development of existing and new product and services,
  • supports the Management Board and especially the CEO by producing strategic management information and addressing requests from their stakeholders (e.g. supervisory board, rating agencies).

There are currently around 20 colleagues plus interns working for SCD; they are based in Amsterdam, Denmark, Cardiff, Cologne, London and Madrid.

Job Description
You will be part of the Corporate Strategy, Business- and Product Development team with 8 FTE plus interims. You will report to the Head of Corporate Strategy who is heading also the Business- and Product Development team of the unit. Preferred locations for the job are Amsterdam, Barcelona, Cardiff, Cologne, Copenhagen, London or Madrid.

The following responsibilities will be part of your role as Business- und Product Development Manager:

  • advising and supporting the Management Board in defining strategic objectives and aligning the strategy for the development of new business, products and services
  • executing key elements of the business- and product development strategy that can involve
    • driving the new business und product development agenda of the company
    • formation of new business und product alliances and partnerships, for instance with other insurers or intermediaries
    • implementation of new business and product initiatives in the various business units
  • the beforementioned by focusing on non-traditional credit insurance products (e.g. Top-up, non-can etc.) and on trade and receivables financing
  • one focus area is currently , arranging the use of Trade Credit Insurance by banks as credit risk mitigation tool according to the Basel rules

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
You should have:

  • at least 5 -7 years working experience in the Trade Finance or Credit Insurance industry, at best in a Commercial role dealing also with product, policy and wording matters
  • knowledge of Atradius products
  • a track record in formulation and implementation in business and product strategies; experience with new business and product development related themes
  • experience with writing wording proposals and texts
  • experience in external representation, i.e. client meetings, negotiations and presentations
  • affinity with data analysis
  • very strong skills in Microsoft PowerPoint but also other with MS tools, as particularly Excel
  • speak and write in English at C1 or C2 level, if English is not already your mother tongue; at least one other European language would be an advantage
