About the ProjectThis Eurotech Alliance PhD project aims to investigate new ways of understanding and scaffolding interdisciplinary work in a constructive way. The project focuses on improving the preparedness of interdisciplinary teaching teams to design Challenge-Based Learning (CBL) courses and train them in coaching and scaffolding student teams' learning in CBL.
Research Objectives- To foster interdisciplinary teaching teams' preparedness in designing CBL courses and interdisciplinary collaboration via professional development activities.
- To improve teacher-student interactions during CBL by focusing on training teaching teams in scaffolding CBL student teams.
- To increase teachers' reflexivity to facilitate continuous adaptation of teaching methods during CBL.
You will be part of a team of experienced researchers and educators, offering a supportive and enriching research environment. You will contribute to the formulation of specific research questions and overall research design in consultation with the research team.
Responsibilities- Conduct a literature review in the areas of interdisciplinary teaching teams' collaboration.
- Design and conduct empirical research to answer your research questions.
- Design and validate assessment tools that can effectively measure teacher team collaboration and reflexivity in CBL environments.
- Disseminate your research results via academic publications and participation at national and international conferences.
We are looking for a motivated and curious individual who will contribute positively to this project and our department. To be eligible for this position, you must have:
- A master's degree (or an equivalent university degree) in educational sciences, psychology, STEM, or any other related field.
- Experience in conducting literature reviews and empirical research in higher education.
- Knowledge of or affinity with innovations in higher education.
- Knowledge of or affinity with engineering education.
- A positive attitude towards innovative teaching and learning.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- A creative and analytical mind.
- Fluent spoken and written English (C1 level).

- Full-time employment for four years, with an intermediate evaluation (go/no-go) after nine months.
- Salary and benefits in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities, scale P (min. €2,872 max. €3,670). An estimated salary is approximately €3,000 per month.
- A year-end bonus of 8.3% and annual vacation pay of 8%.
