Position Details
This role is situated within the LBA (ligand binding-assay) Bioanalysis & Biomarker Area, which comprises a team of 28 skilled researchers and laboratory technicians.
We are seeking a committed individual to join our automation specialist team. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Ensuring the maintenance and troubleshooting of automated systems, including Tecan Fluent liquid handlers.
- Acting as the main liaison for service technicians and aiding in the rollout of new applications within automated processes.
- Supervising laboratory equipment and serving as a link between laboratory analyses and automated procedures.
- Collaborating with researchers and laboratory personnel to enhance automation in analyses and sample management.
You will also be involved in the implementation and validation of equipment and IT systems, optimizing workflows, and integrating systems with the LIMS framework.

Department Overview
Our Non-clinical and Clinical Assay Sciences (NCAS) area includes seven departments and is part of Research and Early Development. We are tasked with preclinical and clinical bioanalysis of new pharmaceutical compounds, including immunogenicity and biomarker assays, supporting the entire product portfolio.
We foster strong collaboration across departments that share laboratory facilities equipped with a variety of advanced techniques, such as ELISA, MSD, AlphaLISA, RIA, Gyros, LCMS, and cell-based assays. NCAS operates under Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) regulations and is transitioning towards a more digitized and automated laboratory environment.
Candidate Qualifications
To excel in this role, you should:
- Hold a qualification as a laboratory technician or possess a relevant educational background.
- Have experience in using and maintaining laboratory equipment, preferably as a proficient user of liquid handlers.
- Bring experience from a regulated environment (e.g., GLP or GCP) as a valuable asset.
- Have familiarity with IT systems and equipment validation, although this is not mandatory.
- Demonstrate strong communication skills and attention to detail.
Additionally, you should have a genuine interest in automation and a passion for resolving technical challenges. You will be able to translate your laboratory workflow knowledge into contributions for automated processes. You should enjoy working collaboratively within a team and across a broader organization, maintaining a proactive and solution-focused mindset, with a strong emphasis on quality in compliance with regulatory standards.
