Job Description
This position is part of the research project INF4INITY that investigates floating wind turbines with Nature Inspired design of scour protection and motion damping system for the floating system.
The objectives are to develop and use new methods for analysing performance of porous structural parts in marine structures. The Postdoc includes both development and use of the OpenFOAM library for Computational Fluid Dynamics analyses.
Key Responsibilities
- Model the effects of wave, current and sea-bed interaction with porous structures that is a part of a new Floating Wind Turbine concept.
- Set-up tests in OpenFOAM and implement recently developed methods for free-surface and turbulence in porous media.
- Incorporate sediment transport schemes in the modelling and assess sand transport interaction with porous structures.
- Co-supervise master projects and contribute to scientific publications and reports.
- Assist with collaboration with other project members in INF4INITY.
Qualifications and Skills
- A PhD degree in Civil/Marine Engineering with specialization in marine structures (or equivalent).
- Excellent programming capabilities in, for instance, MATLAB.
- Excellent knowledge of the CFD library OpenFOAM and good knowledge of C++ programming.
- Good capabilities in reporting and communication skills in English, both written and orally.
- Willingness to engage in group work with a multi-national team and a pro-active personality.
