Research Leader in Environmental Microbiology

Aarhus Universitet (AU) is seeking a skilled research leader in environmental microbiology and archaeal cell biology to join the Department of Biology.
Job DescriptionThe position is a non-tenure track, limited to 20 months, as part of an interdisciplinary project funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark. The appointee will develop a research program within the framework of this project, focusing on microscopy imaging of environmental microorganisms.
The successful candidate will be integrated into the research environment at the Department of Biology, specifically in the Section for Microbiology, where environmental microbiology has a longstanding tradition. They will collaborate with colleagues and cultivate a research network within Asgard archaea research.
Responsibilities- Engage in collaborative work with colleagues and develop workflows for microscopy imaging in close collaboration with the Danish National Cryo-EM Facility.
- Apply for additional funding from Danish and international agencies to support their research beyond the current position.
- Share enthusiasm for teaching and supervision of bachelor- and graduate students.
- Publish and disseminate results at a high international level.
- PhD degree in microbiology, molecular/cell biology or related fields.
- Documented research qualifications at a high international level within environmental microbiology and/or archaeal cell biology.
- Documented teaching and supervision experience is considered an advantage.
- Good communication skills and capability of working within a team.
- Ability to write and speak clear and fluent English.
- Well-equipped laboratory facilities enabling a fast start-up.
- A permanent supporting staff of highly qualified laboratory technicians.
- An open-minded and interactive work environment promoting collaboration.
- Possibilities to gain further qualifications as a research leader through courses and mentoring.
- Funding for travel and consumables.
- Support in applying for future funding.
The estimated salary range for this position is approximately 600,000 - 800,000 DKK per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
