Lead Researcher in Ecosystem Dynamics
The position is part of the National Institute of Aquatic Resources at DTU Aqua, located in Kgs. Lyngby.
We are seeking a professor to lead research on community level marine biodiversity, from plankton to mammals, with a central focus on fish. The key aspect is understanding how biodiversity varies in space and time and its influence on marine ecosystems.
The successful candidate will investigate how external pressures, including fisheries and climate change, impact biodiversity and ecosystem function. This requires bridging fundamental research towards improving scientific advice regarding the impact of stressors on marine ecosystem dynamics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting high-level international research in marine biodiversity that integrates classical marine ecology, statistics, and machine learning.
- Leveraging a proven track record in research leadership, including strategic development and building an interdisciplinary research group.
- Attracting external research funding, coordinating national and international initiatives, and contributing to university-level teaching, including PhD students and post doc supervision.
- Engaging in international advisory functions regarding marine biodiversity and ecosystem effects of fishery and other maritime activities.
DTU Aqua provides research, advice, innovation, and education at the highest international level within sustainable exploitation of living marine resources, aquatic organism biology, and ecosystem dynamics. We have 9 scientific sections covering 14 research areas with 360 employees, a third being scientific staff.
