Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Coordinator to join our team at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research (CBMR) at the University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and managing laboratory-related tasks, ensuring optimal use of research facilities, safety, knowledge sharing, and collaboration.

The ideal candidate will have a strong educational background in biomedical sciences, laboratory management, or a related field, along with extensive experience in laboratory work, setup, and optimization. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage laboratory operations, ensuring efficient use of resources, compliance with regulations, and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide training and support to new laboratory users, focusing on Good Laboratory Practices, safety protocols, and equipment usage.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and databases, including inventory management, procurement, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Collaborate with researchers, technicians, and lab managers to identify and implement optimal laboratory solutions, including electronic booking systems and equipment databases.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable laboratory practices, leveraging the Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework (LEAF).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive laboratory environment, promoting teamwork, knowledge sharing, and open communication.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Educational background as a Biomedical Laboratory Scientist or Laboratory Technician, or an MSc within biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in laboratory work, preferably in a research or academic setting.
  • Proven expertise in laboratory management, coordination, and optimization, including experience with administrative aspects of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office 365 programs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluency in English, with Danish language skills desirable.
  • Knowledge of LEAF and ELNs (Electronic Laboratory Notebooks) is a plus.
