Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team at Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (DTU) as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Ecological Modelling. The successful candidate will have a strong background in ecological modelling, with a focus on coastal ecosystems, pressure-impact relationships, and aquatic nature restoration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced dynamic models addressing key aspects of coastal ecosystem functioning.
  • Analyze interactions between pressures, coastal habitats, and environmental conditions.
  • Advance our understanding of how food production, including Low Trophic Aquaculture and coastal fisheries, interacts with coastal ecosystems already affected by human pressures like eutrophication.
  • Improve models, methods, and decision-support tools for coastal ecosystem management and restoration.
  • Predict impacts of different management strategies for coastal ecosystems under present and future conditions.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Be part of the section's team providing advice to public management and industry.
  • Teach and supervise at BSc and MSc level and be co-supervisor for PhD students.

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in aquatic ecology, ecological modelling, environmental science, engineering, or similar.
  • Experience with application and development of process-based ecological models.
  • Strong skills in scientific programming (Python, R, Matlab, etc.).
  • Preferable experience with model and software development.
  • Experience in data analysis and statistical tools.
  • Publications in high-ranking journals.
  • Preferably experience with advisory work and teaching.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills.
