We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic scientist to fill a Senior Pharmacology Research Scientist position at the Department of Biomedical Sciences. This exciting opportunity combines molecular and translational pharmacology research with food and nutrition sciences.

The Department of Biomedical Sciences is a leading institution in basic and translational biomedicine, with a strong focus on integration of these topics. Our team consists of experts from medicine and natural sciences, with diverse interests and expertise in physiology, biochemistry, anatomy, pharmacology, and clinical medicine. We offer high-quality research-based and clinically relevant undergraduate teaching, supervise postgraduate students, and collaborate closely with laboratory technicians and administrative staff.

This role involves conducting and supervising research in the scope of biological activity of nutrients, focusing on in vitro pharmacology. You will play a key role in publication/academic dissemination, attraction of external funding, and research-based and student-activating teaching within our portfolio of courses.

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • A PhD in molecular biology, biotechnology, molecular pharmacology, or related fields.
  • Significant experience in in vitro studies of biological activity of nutrients, pharmacology studies of G protein-coupled receptors, and studies in insulin and incretin hormones secreting cell lines.
  • A genuine interest in teaching, particularly in biochemistry-related subjects.
  • A track record of high-quality research demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and securing external funding through successful grant applications.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
  • Superior English language skills in both written and spoken forms.

Applicants with additional experience in areas such as:

  • Food sciences, including in vitro simulations of food digestion.
  • In vitro suspension and 3-dimensional cell cultures, including primary tissues, and kinetic methods of secretion assessment.
  • Teaching qualifications and experience in research-based teaching.
