Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet (KU) Full time
Job Title: Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Multi-Omics, and Machine Learning

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will support cutting-edge research to unravel the molecular underpinnings of diabetes and its associated cardiovascular complications.

Background

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research is an academic research center that pioneers groundbreaking research towards better cardiometabolic health. Our team combines research in genetics, physiology, and pharmacology to better understand the complex interplay of factors that drive cardiometabolic disease.

Job Description

The successful candidate will develop approaches to integrate omics datasets, including genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, and metagenomics, to identify novel molecular signatures. The research will focus on defining more precise diabetes subtypes beyond the current type 2 diabetes classification. Additionally, the candidate will investigate biomarkers and clinical features associated with varying disease progression and the risk of developing diabetes-related complications.

Requirements
  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computer Science, or Machine Learning
  • Expertise in multi-omics data integration
  • Strong computational background and expertise in dealing with large datasets
  • High level of proficiency in programming
  • Active interest in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and metabolism
  • Proven track record showing scientific productivity in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
What We Offer

We offer a creative and stimulating work environment in a dynamic, international research setting. The position is a full-time and fixed-term position for 3 years, starting December 1, 2024, or after agreement. Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
