About the Job

The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) is seeking a highly skilled climate scientist to join its team in the National Center for Climate Research. As a climate researcher, you will work on climate modeling with a focus on the polar regions and the climate affecting the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets.

You will be part of a department with a strong profile in both global and regional climate modeling, as well as remote sensing. Your work will involve designing and executing model experiments, developing model code, and analyzing model outputs. You will also contribute to scientific papers and participate in developing new grant applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute model experiments
  • Develop model code in collaboration with colleagues
  • Analyze model outputs
  • Contribute to scientific papers
  • Participate in developing new grant applications

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in climate science, meteorology, or related fields
  • Experience with climate modeling, preferably of the atmosphere or ice sheets
  • Advanced programming skills, including Linux/Unix and scripting languages
  • Research experience working with polar climate is an advantage
  • Good communication skills in oral and written English
