Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time
Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Epigenetics

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic postdoctoral researcher with expertise in chromatin biology to develop new epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. This is a 3-year position with a start date of 15 November 2024, or after agreement.

The successful candidate will work at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research (CPR) in the Chromatin Replication and Epigenome Maintenance research group headed by Prof. Anja Groth.

Our Research Focus

The focus of the Groth group is to elucidate how chromatin organization and function is propagated during mitotic cell division to maintain genome and epigenome stability. Our goal is to understand mechanisms that underpin chromatin replication and epigenetic cell memory, and how they impact on cell fate decisions in development and disease. We apply innovative proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with stem cell biology, high-content imaging, chromatin biochemistry, and structure-function studies.

Our Collaborative Environment

Our group is diverse and multidisciplinary with many scientific collaborations nationally and internationally, and we have an inclusive and highly collaborative work culture. We value idea sharing and use Creative Problem Solving tools to develop our research projects. We also have a translational focus connected to our spin-out company Ankrin Therapeutics.

Your Job

You will be part of our efforts to translate our research in epigenetics into innovative treatment strategies together with our clinical collaborators. Building on our expertise in chromatin replication, the project will develop rationale for novel epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. You will use genome-editing approaches along with state-of-the-art genomics to address how modulation of chromatin assembly impacts epigenetic landscapes and genome function in relevant cancer models.

Requirements

  • A PhD in Life science, biochemistry, molecular cell biology, cancer biology, or related field
  • Background in epigenetics and cancer biology
  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) approaches and data analysis
  • Collaborative and inclusive mindset and curiosity-driven nature
  • Good communication and organization skills
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken

Working at CPR

The employment is at CPR, a Novo Nordisk Foundation center of excellence established in 2007 and embedded in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, to promote basic and applied research on human proteins of medical relevance. The Center comprises modern laboratories, supercomputer resources, and state-of-the-art facilities within protein science and genomics. CPR is an interdisciplinary international environment with English as the main language. We are located in central Copenhagen, a city with one of the highest qualities of life in the world and a vibrant and highly interactive research environment.

Terms of Employment

The employment as postdoc is a full-time and fixed-term position for 3 years. Starting date is 15 November 2024, or after agreement. Salary, pension, and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organization.

Application Procedure

Your online application must be submitted in English by clicking 'Apply now' below. Furthermore, your application must include the following documents/attachments – all in PDF format:

  • Motivated letter of application (max. one page)
  • CV incl. education, work/research experience, language skills, and other skills relevant for the position and names and contact details for 3 references
  • A certified/signed copy of a) PhD certificate and b) Master of Science certificate. If the PhD is not completed, a written statement from the supervisor will do.
  • List of publications

Deadline for applications: 15 September 2024, 23.59pm CET

We reserve the right not to consider material received after the deadline, and not to consider applications that do not live up to the abovementioned requirements.
