Spatial Analyst for Cancer Biology Research
1 month ago
We are seeking a highly motivated Spatial Analyst to join our team at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be working on a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship in spatial analysis of the tumor microenvironment.
About the ProjectThe project aims to establish a new way of understanding tumor biology through integrating tumor physicochemical traits and transcriptomic landscapes. This involves developing superimposed maps of key physicochemical TME parameters and cellular transcriptomes in spheroids and tumors, and combining this with 3D spheroid CRISPR screens and functional analyses.
Your MissionYou will develop and perform spatial metabolomics, spatial transcriptomics, and single cell sequencing of advanced 3D cocultures of human pancreatic cancer cells and associated stromal cells. In collaboration with a PhD student, you will integrate these data with physicochemical parameters obtained by live imaging of pH, lactate, and oxygen. Finally, you will use these results as the basis for initiating 3D CRISPR screens.
Requirements- PhD degree in molecular biology or a related field
- Strong background in single cell- and/or spatial transcriptomics
- Understanding of cancer biology and tumor microenvironment
- Experience with CRISPR screens is an advantage
- A strong, highly collaborative research group with broad national and international scientific networks
- Excellent research infrastructure and technical support
- Highly relevant research at the crossroads between oncology, biophysics, and metabolism
The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.
