Copenhagen, Copenhagen, Denmark Københavns Universitet Full time
Job Description

The Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team in the Section of Microbiology. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research environment focused on understanding the complex interactions between microorganisms and their hosts.

Research Project

The postdoctoral researcher will work on a project investigating the social interactions in microbial populations in plant-pathobiome systems. The project aims to reveal and characterize the interactions between microorganisms and their hosts, and explore how these interactions can be regulated to prevent disease outbreaks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on microbial ecology and plant-microbiome interactions
  • Collaborate with the research group on the project
  • Disseminate research findings through scientific publications and presentations
  • Participate in teaching and training activities at the department

Requirements

  • PhD degree in a relevant field (microbial ecology, plant pathology, theoretical ecology, or a related biological sciences field)
  • Practical expertise in microbiology and molecular biology
  • Documented working experience with plant assays or plant pathogens
  • Multi-omics data analysis skills in R or Python
  • Good knowledge of biostatistics
  • Good communication and collaborative skills

Nice-to-Have Qualifications

  • Experience with plants experiments, including cultivation, maintenance, and site-specific sampling of microbial communities in the rhizosphere, rhizoplane, and endosphere
  • Experience with advanced metagenomics, transcriptomics, flow cytometry, and in-planta assays

Terms of Employment

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. The monthly salary starts at 31,709 DKK (approximately 4,262 Euro, October 2022-level). The employer will pay an additional 17.1% to your pension fund. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible.

Application Procedure

The application, in English, must be submitted electronically. Please include a curriculum vitae, diplomas (Master and PhD degree or equivalent in English), motivation letter specifying project-related experience, complete publication list, and separate reprints of 2-3 particularly relevant papers.
