Postdoctoral Researcher in Soil Biogeochemistry
2 weeks ago
About the Project
The Department of Geosciences & Natural Resource Management at the University of Copenhagen invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral researcher position to investigate the fate of plant root-derived organic matter in soils. This project, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, aims to understand the biogeochemical processes controlling soil carbon storage and greenhouse gas emissions in plant-root-microorganism interactions.
Your Role
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will be responsible for designing and conducting experiments to study the 3D soil structure and its impact on soil organic matter cycling. You will apply advanced imaging techniques, such as x-ray μCT, and classical soil biogeochemical methods to underpin quantitative data with in-situ process scale observations. The project will involve a combination of lab and field experiments, and you will be encouraged to actively contribute to the project's scientific direction and networking opportunities.
About the Host Institute
The University of Copenhagen is a leading research and education institution in Denmark, with a strong focus on interdisciplinary collaboration and sustainability. As a member of the Department of Geosciences & Natural Resource Management, you will be part of a dynamic research group focused on terrestrial ecosystems and biogeochemical processes.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for the position, you must hold a PhD degree in soil science, biology, geoscience, biogeochemistry, agronomy, or a closely related field. You should have a strong publication record and relevant work experience in soil biogeochemistry, imaging techniques, and experimental design. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of Danish is an asset.
