Postdoctoral Researcher in Variant-to-Function Translation for Cardiometabolic Disease

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic researcher to join our team at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will work between the Loos Group and the Schéele Group, contributing to the translation of genetic discoveries into novel biological insights for cardiometabolic outcomes.
About the Position
The postdoctoral fellow will participate in studying genetic variants using CRISPR technology on human cell models and identifying functional variants. The main target cells include hypothalamic neurons, adipocytes, myocytes, and hepatocytes. The researcher will also collaborate with the Claussnitzer Group in the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Genomic Mechanisms of Disease and have the opportunity for recurring research visits at the Broad Institute (Cambridge, USA).
Requirements
- PhD in Functional Genomics, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, Computational Biology, or related sciences
- Experience in working with transcriptomic or epigenetic data
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture
- Expertise in microscopy and imaging techniques, preferably including live cell imaging, 2D/3D imaging, and laser capture techniques
- Experience in working with human genetic association data
- Proven track record showing scientific productivity in peer-reviewed journals
- Proficient communication skills and ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in supervising other researchers at different levels
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and spoken
Terms of Employment
The employment as postdoc is a full-time position for 3 years. Salary, pension, and terms of employment will be in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated.
