Postdoc in Neurological Imaging Research at Copenhagen University
3 weeks ago
We are seeking a highly motivated researcher for a 2-year position to start at the Department of Neuroscience, Panum Institute, University of Copenhagen. The project involves studying cellular models of neurodevelopmental delay and epilepsy using live cell imaging techniques.
About the ProjectThe purpose of this project is to detect consequences of disease mutations on the circuit level using imaging methods, which will be amenable to drug discovery. Our research group is interested in the mechanism of neurotransmitter release in chemical synapses and the molecular basis for neurodevelopmental diseases and epilepsy.
About UsOur international research group is based on teamwork and interdisciplinarity, collaborating with clinicians and patient groups. We have developed several murine and human models of neurodevelopmental disease, based on mutation in the neurotransmitter release machinery.
Your RoleAs a postdoctoral researcher, you will use live cell microscopy of in vitro neuronal populations with fluorescent reporters, perform image analysis, and identify imaging parameters that are changed by mutation. You will work closely with our team to achieve the project's goals.
QualificationsWe are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic scientist with a high potential for original research. Essential experience and skills include a PhD or equivalent degree in natural or medical science, excellent scientific track record, solid experience with cell culture methods, experience in fluorescence microscopy, and proficiency in English.
Benefits and SalaryThe average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week. The monthly salary starts at approximately $5,100 (DKK 38,500). We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in a dynamic and international research environment, with modern laboratories within the Mærsk Tower.
The employer will pay an additional 17.1% to your pension fund. Foreign applicants may be eligible for tax reductions if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
