Unlocking the Secrets of Chromatin Replication

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at the Center for Protein Research (CPR) in Copenhagen, Denmark. As part of our research group headed by Prof. Anja Groth, you will contribute to developing new epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment.

The successful candidate will work on elucidating how chromatin organization and function is propagated during mitotic cell division to maintain genome and epigenome stability. This project aims to understand mechanisms that underpin chromatin replication and epigenetic cell memory, and how they impact on cell fate decisions in development and disease. We apply innovative proteomic and genomic approaches in combination with stem cell biology, high-content imaging, chromatin biochemistry, and structure-function studies.

Our research environment is diverse and multidisciplinary with many scientific collaborations nationally and internationally. We have an inclusive and highly collaborative work culture, where we value idea sharing and use Creative Problem Solving tools to develop our research projects. Our group is also connected to our spin-out company Ankrin Therapeutics, which focuses on translational research related to epigenetics.

You will be part of our efforts to translate our research in epigenetics into innovative treatment strategies together with our clinical collaborators. Building on our expertise in chromatin replication, the project will develop rationale for novel epigenetic approaches for cancer treatment. You will use genome-editing approaches along with state-of-the-art genomics to address how modulation of chromatin assembly impacts epigenetic landscapes and genome function in relevant cancer models.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • A PhD in Life science, biochemistry, molecular cell biology, cancer biology, or a related field.
  • Background in epigenetics and cancer biology.
  • Expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) approaches and data analysis.
  • Collaborative and inclusive mindset, with a curiosity-driven nature.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken).

Working with us offers the opportunity to work in a leading international research center with top-notch laboratory facilities and computational infrastructure. The University of Copenhagen has a strong focus on balancing professional life with family-friendly working conditions.

This fixed-term position is available for 3 years, starting from November 15, 2024, or after agreement. The salary will be approximately DKK 35,000 per month (around EUR 4,700), depending on qualifications. In addition to the salary, you will receive an additional pension contribution of 17.1%.

The employment as postdoc is governed by the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations). For further information, please contact Prof. Anja Groth.
