Folkekirkens Nødhjælp seeks a highly skilled and experienced Humanitarian Program Lead to oversee its protection and multi-sector response activities in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in humanitarian programming, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to adapt to complex and dynamic environments.

The Humanitarian Program Lead will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the program, ensuring that all projects meet quality standards, are completed on time, within budget, and scope. They will also represent Folkekirkens Nødhjælp in dealings with local authorities and humanitarian partners, and manage a project team.

Main duties include:

  • Developing and implementing program strategies, in collaboration with stakeholders
  • Adapting programs to the operational context and developing tools and implementation approaches under the supervision of the Programs department
  • Managing project performance, as defined in the project proposal and according to the distribution of roles, in liaison with support services
  • Ensuring administrative follow-up and monitoring of project activities
  • Coordinating protection and shelter activities, ensuring highest protection mainstreaming standards throughout project implementation
  • Establishing contacts and operational links with local authorities and humanitarian actors involved in project implementation, under the supervision of the Area Manager
  • In coordination with MEAL teams, ensuring accountability systems are adapted to the project context
  • Contributing to needs assessments to inform program design and strategic direction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing project teams, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with local authorities, partners, and other stakeholders
  • Overseeing project budgets, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures
  • Coordinating with internal teams, including logistics, finance, and communications

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., humanitarian project management, social work, international development, etc.)
  • At least 5 years of experience in humanitarian programming, with a focus on protection and multi-sector responses
  • Proven track record of leading and managing project teams, with a focus on results-oriented management
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically
