We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our team at DTU Electro. As a pioneer in the field of SiC optoelectronics, you will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to our project on High-efficiency high-power laser beaming in-space systems based on SiC (RePowerSiC), funded by the EIC pathfinder challenge.

The postdoctoral position will be situated within the wide bandgap semiconductor photonics group, led by Associate Professor Haiyan Ou. You will work closely with other group members and European partners to advance research outcomes.

About the Project

The goal of the project is to achieve a novel ultra-efficient SiC-laser power converter for in-space energy transmission in the range of kW/cm2 with efficiencies higher than 80%. You will design, fabricate, characterize, and optimize antireflection layers for SiC, and explore the high power density limit in SiC laser power converter theoretically and experimentally.

  • Fabrication and characterization of SiC devices
  • Optimization of antireflection layers for SiC
  • Experimental and theoretical exploration of high power density limits
  • Collaboration with other group members and European partners

In the selection of candidates, special consideration will be given to candidates with experience within one or several of the following topics:

  • Nano/micro fabrication
  • Experimental or theoretical photonics
  • Experimental or theoretical electronics
  • Semiconductor physics, or solid-state physics

As well as:

  • Interest in the attraction and supervision of students
  • A proven track record of relevant research

As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent).
