About the Position

The Department of Energy Conversion and Storage at the Technical University of Denmark is seeking a highly talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team focused on engineering and characterizing functional oxide thin films for high-efficiency piezoelectric materials.

This position is part of the recently funded national Villum project, Defect-Induced Symmetry Breaking in Centrosymmetric Oxides for High-Efficiency Energy Conversion. The project aims to discover new piezoelectric oxide thin-film materials compatible with existing silicon technology.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  1. Establish Optimal Deposition Conditions: Develop highly textured oxide films on Si using wafer-scale sputtering and pulsed laser deposition.
  2. Engineer New Piezoelectric Oxide Thin Films: Control ionic defects to create novel piezoelectric materials.
  3. Investigate Emergent Piezoelectric Effects: Explore large-area CGO films on silicon wafers using advanced characterization techniques.

The successful candidate will work on growing functional oxide thin films, fabricating devices, and performing electromechanical measurements. They will also contribute to understanding the relationship between defect dynamics, crystal symmetry, and electromechanical response in intrinsically centrosymmetric oxides.
