Job Description

Are you interested in setting a direction and building a bridge between digitalization and the need for LEGO packaging solutions at all levels, from innovative packaging designs to production shopfloor optimization?

Join us in building the future of tomorrow—one LEGO brick at a time

Core Responsibilities

As a director, you will maximize your technical and digital expertise to elevate our packaging processes and technologies, aligning tools and objectives to streamline digital interfaces, enhance data quality, and drive production efficiency. Your main tasks will include:

  • Update and align progress with key partners and stakeholders — Packing & Packaging (P&P) R&D leadership team, Engineering & Workplace (E&W) leadership team, IT, Operational Transformation organization, etc.
  • Lead and drive the “smart factory” agenda to define needs and interfaces on behalf of P&P.
  • Drive the Digital roadmap for Packing & Packaging (P&P), including both processes and equipment.
  • Act as the digital product owner in P&P R&D, defining and aligning processes across all production sites.
  • Identify data requirements and define the “platform” for BI structure.
  • Drive the Strategy and Deployment process (defining KPIs across P&P).
  • Own the agenda to bridge the gap between automation projects and digital solutions.
  • Manage portfolio management, oversee capacity across P&P, and be responsible for the yearly budget estimate for digital transformation initiatives.

Play your part in our team’s success

R&D Packing & Packaging is responsible for optimizing packing and packaging for all LEGO System and DUPLO products. This is achieved by developing and deploying standardized equipment platforms. In addition, it supports novelty development, develops material specifications, and leads packing capacity planning, including installations.

Do you have what it takes

The ideal candidate has extensive experience leading highly complex digitalization projects, preferably in a global matrix organization. You adeptly handle senior collaborators, ensuring transparent communication. Your commitment to completing plans, crafting high-level strategic agendas, and building strong relationships showcases your reliability and interpersonal skills. With analytical and tactical abilities, you navigate challenges seamlessly and bring:

  • Proven relevant working experience in leadership and management, business strategy development, and R&D.
  • Strong leadership and management profile.
  • Deep expertise in merging technology software and hardware.
  • Innovative approach, challenging the status quo, and continuously seeking and delivering opportunities to improve results.
  • A strong portfolio of successful strategic and operational development projects.
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed organization, get energized by sophisticated challenges, and facilitate strong mitigation plans and solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, validated by your ability to lead many collaborators at different levels and across different geographies.
  • Willingness to travel regularly globally (approx. 30 days annually).
