Building a next generation foundry for quantum processor manufacturing – We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Technician.
Do you want to be a part of pioneering quantum computing in a world-class quantum ecosystem in the heart of Copenhagen? Quantum Foundry Copenhagen is a newly founded company, owned by the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF), aimed at developing next generation Quantum Computing Processor technologies.
Our mission is to establish a foundry capable of manufacturing quantum processor units using novel methods that meet the extreme requirements for purity and precision that are needed to bring Quantum Computing to scale.
About us
Our company is part of a vibrant and growing Danish quantum ecosystem, and we collaborate closely with world-leading researchers at Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP www.nqcp.ku.dk) based at the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen. The NQCP programme is designed to facilitate and drive research and innovations at multiple levels – from developing quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications.
Join our team
We are looking for a Mechanical Technician to join our team of researchers and engineers that develop, install, and maintain our wide range of complex research equipment.
The responsibilities range from small service jobs to major research equipment installation. Typical tasks include assisting with existing projects, taking care of maintenance, making small mechanical designs, mounting designs in setups, installing fabrication equipment etc.
Your main responsibilities and tasks will include:
- Handling installation of process and research equipment in collaboration with external contractors and local staff
- Maintenance and preventive service of research equipment in collaboration with the technical team
- Participation in technical collaborations with research and engineering teams for the optimization of mechanics for the fabrication and measurement facilities.
- Solving mechanical ad hoc tasks in collaboration with external contractors
- Acting as a single point of contact to Campus Service as well as external contractors
- Performing some machining of custom parts for our facilities
Professional and Personal Qualifications
We are looking for an experienced all-round Research Technician with a broad understanding of different technical fields, and a strong interest in mechanical tasks. The position requires strong cross-functional collaboration and teamwork abilities, with the level of responsibility tailored to your experience and background. The job does not require previous experience working in quantum. If you are new to quantum, we will train you.
Your qualifications include:
- Professional training as a skilled machinist, electrician, or similar with focus on technical aspects
- Experience using Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD for design tasks
- Ability to understand installation documentation and proactiveness when it comes to seeking needed information
- Strong interpersonal skills and proficiency in both Danish and English is essential
- Broad knowledge of relevant areas like vacuum techniques, low temperature equipment, pneumatics, and basic electrical skills is highly desirable.
We offer
We strive to be a world leading foundry and offer competitive salaries along with the many benefits of living in Copenhagen – one of the most livable cities in the world. Joining our team offers opportunities for professional growth and collaboration with the rest of our technical team and partners. Benefits also include generous vacation time, health insurance, a pension scheme, and a chance to contribute to a dynamic and innovative team.
