We are looking for a hands-on senior dairy pilot plant technician who has a passion for working within a stainless-steel environment and has a natural interest in dairy food ingredients and processing.

Welcome to Applied R&D Fresh Dairy Projects Competences & Sensory

You will become part of Applied R&D Fresh Dairy, Projects, Competences & Sensory Denmark composed of 8 scientists and technicians. Our team is anchored within a larger Fresh Dairy Application organization composed of 6 teams of 60 employees in Denmark, France, USA, China and Malaysia.

Located in Hoersholm, our team has a global role and collaborates closely with Business development, Marketing, R&D, local application teams, Sales and our customers all over the world. The department in Denmark is composed of 25 highly skilled scientists and technicians, who are divided into two teams with different areas of responsibility – Projects and Technical Support – yet working closely together.

The Projects, Competences and Sensory team, you are joining, plays a pivotal role in both short and long-term new product development projects aiming at developing new single or combined solutions of microbial cultures and enzyme for our customers for a wide range of fresh dairy applications (stirred yogurt, ambient, Greek/skyr, drinking, probiotics, fluid milk). We are using state-of-the-art production pilot and laboratory technologies, methodologies and modern equipment to deliver on our ambition.

Our missions are to translate market needs into project measurable targets and deliverables and test developed products in industrial-like conditions. Furthermore, the team has a strong focus on developing new dairy processes and technologies (concentrated, filtration, UHT) in small, medium and large scale.

Your new team holds a strong expertise in fermentation, texture of food and high-quality fermented/non-fermented milk production and evaluation. The team is multicultural and values good collaboration, open communication and displays a helpful mindset. The 6 technicians in the team work in a flexible way across many different projects and the responsible scientists. At the same time, each technician develops into a specialized area of expertise which ensures ongoing personal and professional development, as well as an optimization of our existing methods and processes.

In this role you'll make an impact by…

…Planning, designing and conducting high-quality mini/medium size pilot scale production and relevant follow-ups for our Fresh Dairy innovation project pipeline. You will ensure optimal quality, sensory profile and performance of the final dairy products.

In this role, you are the expert on processes and equipment in the pilot plant and will contribute, in collaboration with the relevant worldwide experts, in raising our knowledge on how to apply in the best way Novonesis bacterial cultures and enzymes in fermented and non-fermented milk applications. You will optimize and establish new relevant dairy technologies, equipment and processing conditions for a broad range of dairy applications, such as UHT processing, membrane filtration, powder hydration, separators and homogenization.

Your tasks will furthermore include:
  • Prepare samples for follow-up analyses in relation to microbiology, pH, texture, chemical composition and sensory analyses.
  • Understand and critically analyze the carried-out experiment, report results, findings, and conclusions in notebook.
  • Participate in large scale trials at customers and contribute to building relationships with equipment providers.
  • Perform cleaning, maintenance and safety checks on production equipment to ensure good quality and working environment.
  • Manage supply and stock of raw materials.
  • Undertake duties to maintain smooth functioning of production facility and laboratories shared between technicians in the Dairy & Dairy Alternative Applied R&D organization.
  • Actively interact with technicians and scientists and raise your opinion to influence and optimize our ways of working.
  • Participate in cutting-edge processing developments, scale up new product innovations, and technical excellence in dairy processing.
To succeed you must hold:
  • Educational background as dairy-, food-, process-technologist and/or laboratory technician preferably within food and beverages.
  • Hands-on experience with process equipment, analytical tools and possibly non or fermented milk applications.
  • Good understanding of product formulation and various dairy categories.
  • Possesses a creative and customer-focused mindset with the ability to transform ideas into practical solutions.
  • Thrives in managing routine tasks while maintaining an overview of diverse experimental assignments.
  • Demonstrates natural curiosity, openness, and a keen interest in food processing and development.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility to promptly resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Adaptable, flexible, methodical, and maintains a 'can-do' approach in fast-paced environments.
  • Works reliably on their own initiative and effectively collaborates within multicultural and diverse teams.
  • Comfortable working with Office365 package (Teams) and IT systems.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
