Your Role

We are seeking an ambitious and impact-driven Backend Developer to join our team. Working alongside two senior backend developers, you’ll take a lead role in developing, maintaining, and expanding the backend infrastructure for our product suite. Your work will have a direct impact on our growth, enhancing both technical performance and customer experience across Colourbox and Skyfish. We’re looking for someone who can think big-picture and see where technology can give us a competitive edge.

As part of our team, you’ll do more than just code; you’ll play a key role in strategic decision-making that drives our roadmap. This is an opportunity to shape the future of our products and deliver real value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the development team to drive customer value.
  • Architect and develop new features while optimizing and refactoring existing ones.
  • Implement efficient image processing pipelines and improve search functionality for an enhanced user experience.
  • Build and maintain robust JSON APIs for customer and app integrations, aggregate data, and establish seamless connections with external services.
  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback.
  • Ensure high quality and security standards in all deliverables.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, proactively addressing any issues.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, tools, and trends, suggesting practical enhancements when needed.

Our Technology Stack

Our API is primarily written in PHP 8 , with continuous integration managed through AWS . We break down parts of our product into smaller services, typically developed in Python 3 or TypeScript .

Your Qualifications

  • Strong proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming .
  • Experience with Laravel and SQL Databases for data-driven applications.
  • Familiarity with ElasticSearch .
  • Cloud technology skills, particularly with AWS , are a plus.
