Postdoc in Genomic Research for Barley at the University of Copenhagen

The Globe Institute at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling the genomes of 50 barley varieties using short and ultra-long reads sequencing data.
This is a two-year fixed-term position, starting on 1 February 2023. The postdoc will be part of a large European Commission funded project, BarleyMicroBreed, which aims to develop new breeding strategies for barley.
The Centre for Evolutionary Hologenomics (CEH) at the Globe Institute offers a dynamic and international research environment with access to world-class molecular laboratories and high-performance computing clusters.
Responsibilities:- Perform hybrid assemblies on genomic data from 50 carefully curated barley lines
- Establish a pipeline to process genomes in parallel using the high-performance computing cluster
- Collaborate with other researchers to optimize data production
- PhD in genomics, preferably in plant genomics
- Experience in using short and long-read sequencing data
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Fluent English language skills
- A competitive salary, currently set at approximately €4,800 per month (October 2022 level)
- A supplement may be negotiated based on qualifications
- The employer will pay an additional 17.1% to your pension fund
- Tax reductions may be available for foreign and Danish applicants who hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark for the last 10 years
