About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Advanced Geophysical Data Scientist to join our team at DMI's Weather Research Department. This permanent, full-time position involves working with radar-based precipitation applications, research, and development. The ideal candidate will possess strong programming skills within a UNIX environment, experience with machine learning, high-performance computing, forecasting, and model-data integration.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing and analyzing large datasets, developing new software tools, and collaborating with our research team to improve radar products and services. Key tasks include ensuring proper distribution of radar data, products, and services, as well as maintaining and developing the Danish radar network.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To excel in this role, you will need:
• MSc or PhD degree in a relevant field, preferably combining earth sciences and computational science
• Strong programming skills within a UNIX environment, including languages such as Python, C, and shell scripting
• Experience with machine learning, high-performance computing, forecasting, and model-data integration
• Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary, starting at approximately $80,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
