The Human Neural Development research group at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine, University of Copenhagen, is seeking a highly skilled candidate for a 2-year Assistant Professor position. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop a microfluidic platform for bioengineered neuronal circuits and high-throughput stem cell-based phenotypic drug screening for Parkinson's Disease.
SalaryThe monthly salary starts at approximately €5,100 (DKK 38,500), with a possibility of supplement based on qualifications. In addition, an employer contribution of 17.1% to the pension fund is made.
Job DescriptionThe position involves developing a microfluidic platform for bioengineered neuronal circuits and high-throughput stem cell-based phenotypic drug screening for Parkinson's Disease. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing a drug screening platform using human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs)
- Culturing hPSC-derived astrocytes and microglia
- Designing and fabricating silicone microfluidic devices using soft-lithography
- Performing high-content immunofluorescence and live-cell confocal imaging
- Applying machine learning algorithms for image analysis
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in developmental biology, biomedical sciences, or bioengineering, with a minimum of 4 years of postdoctoral experience. Essential skills and qualifications include:
- Expertise in handling and culturing human pluripotent stem cells
- Experience with high-throughput qRT-PCR, phenotypic screening, and microfluidics culturing systems
- Strong knowledge of neurodevelopment and/or stem cell biology, as well as microfluidic device engineering
- Excellent communication and teaching skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
