PhD Researcher in Environmental Sustainability Assessment of ICT Technologies

This PhD project aims to develop a scientifically valid and transparent absolute environmental sustainability assessment (AESA) model for ICT systems. The goal is to create an energy-certification of the ICT sector, laying the groundwork for achieving absolute environmental sustainability. Responsibilities and QualificationsThis PhD project will involve:
- Conducting detailed studies of the energy consumption of ICT networks and data centers
- Investigating the associated CO2 footprint for sending information
- Developing an absolute environmental sustainability assessment model to evaluate the overall climate impact of ICT services
- Working towards a standardized evaluation tool for ICT services and equipment
To be eligible for this position, you must have a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. A relevant background in communication networks, climate footprint evaluations, or both is highly desirable.
Assessment and EnrolmentThe scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programs at DTU. Salary and Appointment TermsThe appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.
The period of employment is 3 years. The preferred starting date is 15 November 2024, or according to our mutual agreement. The position is full-time.
