We are seeking a talented Data Science researcher to join our team at the Section for Crop Sciences, Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences (PLEN), Faculty of Science, University of Copenhagen (KU). This 2-year term-limited position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in agricultural phenotyping.
About the PositionThe successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out image analyses of data collected from high-throughput phenotyping platforms at PLEN. They will work closely with plant scientists and technical staff involved in phenotyping projects, as well as external partners, to develop and implement software for high-throughput phenotyping.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and manage software for high-throughput phenotyping, including image acquisition and analysis.
- Conduct methodological research in image processing, 3D models, point clouds, vegetation indices, and plant morphologies.
- Prepare drafts and participate as author and co-author for technical documents, scientific papers, conference papers, and reports on phenotyping research and activities at the Section for Crop Sciences.
- Participate in seminars, workgroups, and meetings as a technical resource representative of the department.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong foundation in machine learning and image processing. The ideal candidate should have:
- A PhD in Agronomy or Data Science.
- Demonstrated professional competence and mastery in data science relevant to agricultural research.
- Ability to conduct independent research and analysis.
- Ability to identify issues, formulate options/scientific hypotheses, and make conclusions and recommendations.
- Advanced computer skills and a strong foundation in Machine Learning (ML).
- Adherence to good data management paradigms.
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
The salary is approximately DKK 475,000 per year, which is competitive with other academic positions in Denmark.
