Job Description

We are seeking an Associate Professor of Health Data Science to join our team. As a key member of the Department of Public Health, you will contribute to developing novel methodology within health data science, supporting and collaborating with the rest of the faculty on uptake of health data science, and advancing the University's position as a leader in the development of novel tools for public health.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of researchers
  • Obligation to share knowledge with the rest of society, including participation in public debate
  • Academic assessments

To be successful in this role, you must have extensive experience in genomic analysis and pursuing the development of novel AI-based tools for improving pandemic preparedness. You will also need to possess good interpersonal and communicative skills, as well as a close connection with data-generating initiatives of both pathogens and hosts, and experience in inferring the processes driving the emergence and evolution of new strains.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be qualified for this position, you will be assessed according to the six overall criteria for recognising merit at the University of Copenhagen: Research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding, and leadership.

You must be able to document research qualifications at the level that can be achieved by satisfactorily completing a period of employment as an assistant professor/postdoc, but may also be obtained in other ways. Additionally, you must have teaching qualifications and pedagogical competencies, as well as research-based teaching.
