We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated PhD candidate to join our research team at Hs Mittweida. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge project in the field of neuromechanics and motor control of voice.
Project OverviewThe project aims to study motor control and biomechanics of sound production across vertebrates. The successful candidate will use a combination of experimental and computational approaches to investigate the physical mechanisms of sound production in vocal vertebrates.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on motor control and biomechanics of sound production in vertebrates
- Develop and implement experimental and computational methods to study vocal organ physiology
- Collaborate with the research team to design and conduct experiments
- Analyze and interpret data to draw conclusions and make recommendations
- Communicate research findings through publications and presentations
- Recent MSc degree in biology or engineering, preferably with a background in neuroscience, bioacoustics or biomechanics
- Experience in signal analysis and programming (Python, R, Matlab, or equivalent)
- Excellent written and oral English language communication skills
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Interest in working in an interdisciplinary environment paired with excellent social skills
- A three-year PhD position in a stimulating and supportive research team
- Access to state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure
- Excellent training in all aspects of the project
