Senior Research Scientist in Arctic Mammal Population Genomics

The Department of Biology at the University of Copenhagen seeks a highly motivated and skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our research group focused on population genomics of Greenlandic land mammals.
Job DescriptionThis is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in population genomics, leveraging advanced statistical and computational methods to investigate the genetic diversity and evolution of arctic mammal populations. The project involves collaboration with international partners and access to high-throughput genomic data.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze whole genome datasets to elucidate patterns of genetic variation and selection in arctic mammal populations
- Develop and implement novel statistical and computational approaches to address research questions in population genomics
- Collaborate with colleagues to design and execute experiments, and interpret results
To be considered for this position, applicants must have a PhD in population genetics/genomics, bioinformatics or a similar quantitative field. We are looking for a candidate with:
- Strong background in population genomics and experience with high-throughput sequencing data
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or C/C++
- Experience with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line interfaces
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
The position is full-time and available from 1 December 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter. The university offers a dynamic and inclusive work environment with opportunities for professional development and growth.
Terms of EmploymentThe position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff. Terms of appointment and payment accord to the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and The Danish Confederation of Professional Associations on Academics in the State.
