Postdoctoral Researcher in Materials Chemistry and X-ray Scattering

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our research group in materials chemistry and x-ray scattering. The successful candidate will work on two exciting projects, focusing on the use of ultrafast x-ray scattering methods for characterization of atomic structure and understanding material synthesis pathways.

Project 1: Ultrafast X-ray Scattering

The first project aims to study the formation mechanism of nanoparticles using ultrafast time-resolved pair distribution function experiments. The postdoctoral researcher will develop new synthesis methods and characterize the resulting nanoparticles using x-ray total scattering and spectroscopy techniques.

Project 2: Size/Structure Relations and Formation Mechanisms

The second project focuses on the synthesis and characterization of disordered oxide nanomaterials and high entropy materials for electrocatalysis. The postdoctoral researcher will use x-ray total scattering and spectroscopy techniques to elucidate the formation pathways for these materials and characterize their electrocatalytic properties.

Responsibilities

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for conducting independent and creative research, demonstrating scientific productivity, and showing good interpersonal and communication skills. The candidate will work within our international, cross-disciplinary group and will co-supervise students and other group members.

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must have a PhD degree in experimental chemistry, nanoscience, physics, or a similar field with experience in material synthesis. Extensive experience in synchrotron, neutron, or XFEL experiments is required, including experience in advanced modeling of scattering or spectroscopy data. Experience with total scattering and pair distribution function analysis is an advantage.

What We Offer

The University of Copenhagen offers a dynamic and international research environment, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a competitive salary. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to work with a talented team of researchers and contribute to the development of new materials and technologies.

How to Apply

The application, in English, must be submitted electronically by clicking APPLY NOW below. Please include a motivation/cover letter, separate reprints of 3 particularly relevant papers, reference letters (if available), and diplomas (Master and PhD degree or equivalent). The deadline for applications is 25 September 2024, 23:59 GMT +2.
