Overview

As part of our ongoing transition to bring external partner data integration work in-house, we are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer or Data Engineer to join our office in Copenhagen. This role will take ownership of critical data integration systems with major partners such as Google, Amazon and Meta, ensuring they are stable, reliable, and aligned with AudienceProject's long-term architectural and operational standards. The position offers a mix of hands-on engineering, system design, and technical leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Data Integration & ETL:
  Design, develop, and maintain integrations with external partner APIs and internal systems to extract, transform, and load data into AudienceProject's data platform.
• Business Alignment
  : Work closely with product, business and Data Science stakeholders to digest business requirements and translate them into efficient and maintainable technical solutions.
• System Refactoring:
  Lead a major rework of one of the primary systems, implementing a new methodology developed by our Data Science team, while improving reliability, maintainability, and scalability.
• Architecture & Infrastructure:
  Define and implement best practices for system architecture, infrastructure management, and cost optimization in AWS.
• Collaboration:
  Work closely with AudienceProject's core development and Data Science teams to ensure consistency across data pipelines and shared infrastructure.
• Automation & DevOps:
  Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and monitoring systems to support smooth, secure, and cost-efficient operations.
• Leadership & Mentorship:
  Serve as a technical mentor for less experienced engineers, guiding them in best practices in software and data engineering.
• Operational Responsibility:
  Ensure built systems are robust, monitored, fault-tolerant, and cost-efficient in production environments.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with a solid background in Computer Science (BSc or equivalent).
• Hands-on experience developing production-grade software in Python or Scala (or similar languages).
• Proven experience building and maintaining AWS environments.
• Demonstrated ability to design and operate high-availability, fault-tolerant production systems.
• 3+ years of experience working with relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with modern data engineering technologies, such as AWS EMR, Hadoop, Spark, and Delta Lake or similar frameworks.
• Hands-on experience implementing DevOps / DevSecOps / DevFinOps best practices, including CI/CD, infrastructure as code (IaC), and application monitoring.
• Excellent English communication skills.
• Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work cross-functionally.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with cost management and performance optimization in AWS environments.
• Familiarity with data modeling and pipeline orchestration tools.
• Experience with mentorship or small team leadership.
• Hands-on experience with data processing and computation frameworks such as NumPy, Pandas, Polars, Apache Flink, or similar technologies used for large-scale or high-performance data handling.
