The period of employment is 3 years. Estimated salary range: DKK 60,000 - 80,000 per month (approximately USD 8,800 - 12,000). Job Description

This PhD scholarship opportunity is part of DTU's major long-term strategy to combine experimental and computational approaches to establish single-cell proteomics as a routine tool for deciphering cell heterogeneity in complex biological systems. The project primarily focuses on developing novel sample preparation methods, including enrichment of post-translational modifications, for conducting high-throughput single-cell proteomics experiments.

Responsibilities and Qualifications
  • Develop and implement novel mass spectrometry data acquisition strategies to explore their application in low-input proteomics down to single cells.
  • Design and optimize low-volume liquid handling approaches to develop next-generation single-cell proteomics sample preparation workflows that can be combined with PTM-enrichment.
  • Explore novel chromatography approaches to enhance sensitivity for single-cell proteomics.
Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should hold a two-year master's degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master's degree. Relevant subject areas include biochemistry, biomedicine, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, immunology, or related subjects. The candidate should have a strong interest in fundamental scientific discoveries and elevating their translational potential. Prior experience with single-cell proteomics method development, LC-MS, mammalian cell culture techniques, automated low-volume liquid handling, cell sorting equipment, FACS, and computational/bioinformatics analysis of proteomics datasets is highly desirable.
