Job DescriptionWe seek a highly qualified professor in Veterinary Clinical Pathology to lead our research group and contribute to the development of the academic field. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of original scientific work, research leadership, and clinical specialist competences at an international level.
The professor's area of responsibility will encompass research, research leadership, teaching, and service in veterinary clinical pathology and companion animal internal medicine. The main emphasis will be on the clinical and comparative aspects of the discipline, with a focus on biomarkers within veterinary haematology, inflammation, haemostasis, cancer, clinical biochemistry, endocrinology, cytology, and urinalysis.
The professor's duties will primarily consist of:
- Conducting research, including scientific publication and communication within the academic field
- Providing research leadership and management, laboratory management, and engagement in the university's external academic activities
- Performing research-based teaching and participating in examinations
- Leading the University of Copenhagen Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, including the animal biobank part of CUBE
- Developing the academic field in relation to research-based teaching and education at pre- and postgraduate levels
- Participating in knowledge exchange with society, leading a research group, raising external funding, and contributing to postdoctoral training and educational guidance
The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communicative skills, as well as experience in laboratory management, leadership, and administration. They will also have a strong background in veterinary clinical pathology, with expertise in biomarkers, diagnostic analytics, and therapeutics.
RequirementsThe successful candidate must hold a DVM degree and a Danish authorization to practice veterinary medicine or be willing to apply for this shortly after commencing the employment. A postgraduate degree (PhD or equivalent) within the fields of research mentioned above is also required.
