Natural History Conservator Position: Expert in Preservation and Exhibition

About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Natural History Conservator to join our Conservation Unit at the Natural History Museum of Denmark, Faculty of Science. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in preparing objects for our new permanent galleries.
The successful candidate will have expertise in all aspects of remedial conservation of natural history objects, including taxidermy, skeletal preparations, paleontological, and fluid preparations. Your knowledge of preventive conservation practices and experience working in large-scale collection moves will be invaluable assets to our team.
You will be responsible for investigating, planning, and undertaking conservation treatments on various natural history collection types, as well as writing detailed reports and photography documentation. Additionally, you will oversee packing and transport of objects and assist with their final installation into our permanent galleries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head of Conservation Unit with day-to-day management of the conservation lab and scheduling of object treatments.
- Provide preventive conservation advice to the wider museum.
- Investigate and develop new specimen preparation methods.
- Manage and prioritize a varied workload in an efficient and cooperative manner.
Requirements:
- Education as conservator or equivalent academic degree combined with equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of remedial conservation techniques for natural history objects.
- Experience working in large-scale collection moves.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to manage a flexible workload.
