Job DescriptionWe are seeking an ambitious Marine Microbial Ecologist to join our team at the Center for Volatile Interactions (VOLT). As a postdoctoral researcher, you will contribute to advancing our understanding of marine bacterioplankton and phytoplankton interactions and their role in volatile organic compound production/emission.
- You will conduct field and experimental work, applying molecular analyses of bacterial and phytoplankton community composition, plankton activity measurements, and VOC measurements using GC-MS or PTR-MS techniques.
- You will lead-writing and co-authoring scientific publications, with opportunities to supervise MSc students and collaborate with international researchers.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A PhD in marine microbial ecology or a related field.
- Fluency in written and spoken English, with excellent writing skills demonstrated by your publication record.
- Good analytical skills in molecular community analyses (bioinformatics), aquatic microbial ecology, and cultivation of bacteria and phytoplankton.
- Experience with VOC measurements, multivariate statistics, and field and experimental work.
