Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral researcher to join our team at the Department of Biology, University of Copenhagen. The successful candidate will be part of the Center for Volatile Interactions (VOLT) and will work on a research project focused on fluxes of volatiles associated with marine bacterioplankton and phytoplankton.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct field and experimental work to investigate the importance of bacterioplankton and phytoplankton interactions for VOC production/emission
  • Apply molecular analyses of bacterial and phytoplankton community composition, plankton activity measurements, and measurements of VOCs
  • Lead-writing and co-authoring scientific publications
  • Supervise MSc students
Requirements
  • PhD in marine microbial ecology or a related field
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent writing skills demonstrated by a strong publication record
  • Good analytical skills in molecular community analyses (bioinformatics), aquatic microbial ecology, and cultivation of bacteria and phytoplankton
  • Experience with VOC measurements using GC-MS or PTR-MS techniques and multivariate statistics is an asset
