Materials Scientist for Freestanding Oxide Membranes

The ERC Advanced project NEXUS aims to develop innovative freestanding membranes made from complex oxides. This project focuses on developing novel methods for fabricating and studying these membranes, which have the potential to revolutionize our understanding of materials science.
The primary goal is to develop methods for controlling the twist angle of artificial freestanding oxide membranes. This involves optimizing sample preparation, developing novel deposition techniques, and conducting thorough analysis using state-of-the-art instrumentation.
This project requires strong collaboration with international partners, including the Electron Microscopy Center at the University of Antwerp (EMAT) and the Electron Microscopy Center at DTU. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic research community working on cutting-edge projects.
Required Skills and Qualifications- PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering or similar.
- Strong experience in thin film deposition technologies, especially PLD.
- Background in applied physics/materials science.
- Experience in structural characterizations (XRD, RSM, RHEED, and TEM).
- Experience in programming or writing analysis software is advantageous.
- Previous experience in nano/micrometer-size device fabrication techniques, especially e-beam lithography is advantageous but not a requirement.
- Previous experience in fabricating oxide membranes is an advantage.
- Previous experience in characterization of electrical conductivity and/or magnetic properties.
- Ability to work independently, plan and carry out complicated tasks, and be part of a large dynamic group.
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
